Ruera Estate is a 190‑hectare farm in Juja Sub County, Kiambu, set on gently sloping red‑volcanic soils at 1577 masl. The estate cultivates Ruiru 11, SL28, K7, and Batian, benefiting from cool temperatures and bimodal rainfall that support slow, even cherry development.
Since 2006, the farm has been managed by Coffee Management Services (CMS), whose agronomists provide continuous field support, quality feedback, and long‑term investment in processing and farm management. This commitment to excellence has earned national recognition, with Ruera’s natural lot winning 1st place at the Kenya National Taste of Harvest 2024–2025 competition.
Cherries are hand‑picked, carefully sorted, and processed with strict control to avoid over‑fermentation or rewetting. Drying takes place on raised beds until the coffee reaches 10–11% moisture, ensuring stability and a clean, structured cup profile.
Ruera Estate employs around 300 workers daily, with on‑site housing for many families. A crèche, primary school, and dispensary provide essential community services. Environmental initiatives — including reforestation, energy conservation, responsible waste management, and soil‑erosion control — reinforce the estate’s long‑term commitment to sustainable production.
