Kenya - Thiririka AA - Lot #004 - 250g

We are delighted to introduce our first Kenyan coffee from the new harvest, a vibrant and generous lot produced by the members of the Thiririka Farmers Cooperative Society in Kiambu County.

In filter brewing, Thiririka AA, Lot #004, reveals a delicate and luminous profile. The aroma opens with notes of white tea and white flowers, sometimes accompanied by a gentle milky sweetness or a touch of fine caramel. In the cup, the lively acidity evokes lime and can drift toward a hint of redcurrant, carried by a silky texture and an intense sweetness.

The aromatic expression evolves noticeably over the days following roasting: the floral nuances gain precision, the sweetness becomes more pronounced, and the whole profile grows more expressive, especially as the cup cools.

As an espresso, the coffee reveals an additional dimension: a generous texture, pronounced sweetness and a very clean balance. A bright yet comforting cup, surprisingly indulgent despite the finesse of its aromatic profile.

About the Producer

The Thiririka FCS brings together around 1,500 smallholders, each cultivating 1 to 2 hectares and delivering their cherries to the cooperative’s washing stations. The loamy clay soils and high altitude provide ideal conditions for Kenya’s historic varieties, particularly SL‑28 and SL‑34.

Processing follows traditional Kenyan methods:

  • meticulous cherry sorting,
  • 12 to 24 hours of dry fermentation,
  • washing and density grading,
  • extended soaking,
  • 7 to 14 days of drying on raised beds.

This approach, combined with a transparent and quality‑based payment system, encourages producers to deliver their best cherries - a commitment that is clearly reflected in the cup.
